How to make your workouts a breeze using audiobooks

Written by Don
on July 3rd, 2009

There is absolutely no doubt.Audio books are making lives much easier.

There might be some of us that already enjoy working out to stay in fantastic shape, audio books will be a great help to these people too - ensuring your workout will be managed with a huge reduction in stress.

The "trend" of listening to music or radio whilst working out is now a thing of the past.  Now, with audio books, you can kill 2 birds with one stone.

The power of audiobooks really can help you to maximise your workout, I've listed some of the ways below.

One - audio books aren't always novels, there are some very inspirational educative audio books that will help to show you the benefits of staying fit and healthy. I hear all of the time that people don't workout because they're scared to - most people don't even know the exact ways to do so.  Instead of guessing it, there are great audio books that will help you out.

No matter how much you think already know about workout, there are audio books out there that will teach you more helpful ways.

Some of these workout related audio books come with calming music in the background, thereby making you stay focused and attentive during the workout.

Two - audio books during workouts help to take your mind away from the physical activity. Instead of concentrating on the pain of the workout, you will be concentrating on the message contained in the audio book.

It can really help you to exercise for longer. If you usually jog for, say 10 minutes, with an interesting audio book you will be able to increase the jogging time to, say 30 minutes or more.

Three - there are specific audio books that talk about the importance of staying in shape and looking great. Such audio books can be great during workouts.

It's easy to make excuses when you're working out, so that you finish before you should - but audio books can help to inspire you into completing each workout programme.

Motivational audiobooks written by experts like Anthony Robbins who used to be overweight and unfit, can really give you the confidence you need to workout, even when you don't feel up to it.

You will understand why you should also workout to loose weight and realize that if Anthony Robbins could do it, you can do it too.

Four - when your workout gets difficult, it can be easy to give up, using an inspiring audiobook during the exercises can really influence you to keep going.

So, if you have always had a problem with sticking with your workout, get some great workout related and motivational audio books, such as Anthony Robbins “Awaken The Giant within” and “Unlimited Power”.

Not only will these helpful audio books help you mentally, they will help you stick to your workout plan. After some hard work, you will look fantastic, both mentally AND physically.

An excellent source that I have found for audio book downloads is Spoken Network. They can be found at:

What Aerobic fitness Can Do For You

Written by Don
on July 1st, 2009

One of the reasons people give for not wanting to exercise is that doing the same workout over and over again is boring.  Even with using high-tech exercise machines, you are doing the same thing over and over again.  This is why a lot of people do aerobics or Pilates for fitness.  There is a wide variety of routines to keep the doldrums away with proper aerobics fitness and Pilates workouts.

What Is Aerobic fitness?

A simple definition of aerobic fitness is this: It’s a level of exertion that increases the delivery of oxygen to your muscles, enabling them to work longer.  Unfit people experience shortness of breath when doing normal activities, like bending over to pick up a child, or doing housework or yardwork. Bending over to take laundry out of the clothes dryer can be a challenge for an overweight person who has a low level of aerobic fitness. When you improve your aerobic fitness, you will no longer gasp for breath when you play with your children or walk up a flight of stairs.

Is There A Difference?

Twenty years ago, there was a big difference between aerobics fitness and Pilates fitness.  Aerobics in the 1980’s meant a variety of progressively strenuous exercises to upbeat dance music.  Getting through a one hour class could become an exercise in physical torture.  After a few years, it was determined that these aerobic workouts were did more harm than they did good.

Aerobics has now combined with Pilates in the 2000’s to make aerobic fitness Pilates workouts.  Pilates is a synthesis of yoga, Greco-Roman wrestling, rhythmic gymnastics and sometimes swimming.  You may be able to find these Pilate excercise classes taking place in swimming pools with floating Noodles and beach balls for props.

If you like to walk but lack the motivation to get out there and walk every day, try wearing a pedometer that counts your steps every day. It’s fun to find out how many steps you take in a typical day, and then it’s even more fun to see if you can add just a few steps a day, then a few steps more, and more, until you are walking almost everywhere you go.

The gentle nature of Pilates or water aerobics makes it great for people of all ages, including seniors.  Being mobile helps loosen up stiff joints, helps keep your bones strong and keeps your mind sharp.  Seniors are especially prone to tingling or numbness in the extremities, and regular exercise like Pilates can help keep the circulation going to all parts of the body.  You can also do gardening, skip rope, climb walls, ride horses, surf or take up martial arts if you ever get tired of your usual fitness routine.

Resistance Bands Or Free Weights?

Written by Don
on June 30th, 2009

There are so many different pieces of home workout equipment to choose from now. It seems like every other week a company is coming out with a new piece of equipment for you to use. The one thing that is becoming a must have is a set of exercise bands.

A resistance band is nothing more than a piece of rubber that is made to a certain thickness. The bigger the band the more tension it creates. There are a couple bands you can use that create the same effect of picking up fifty pounds. When you get a set of bands you are giving yourself so many new exercises to do.

A lot of time people opt for the resistance bands instead of getting a big set of free weights. Now people can do a bunch of different workouts without having to use a ton of equipment. Not everybody can do a bicep curl with a 50 pound dumbbell so they do not want to pay for it. It is hard to do. The majority of people who use bands like it because it gives them a chance to work out without risking injury while they build their muscles up. Free weights do work your muscles from top to bottom and the bands only work it at the top of the rep. You are only going to feel it when you are pulling with a band while a free weight has tension on the up and down part of the rep.

As you get stronger with the bands you will want to switch it up to use a heavier one. You need to do this to keep your workouts challenging while doing biceps and tricep workouts. Your body will need the heavier band to get you the results you are looking for. Resistance bands are the thing to use if you are doing PX90.

There are a lot of good things to say about using resistance bands for a workout. The advantages they have over free weights is that they take up a lot less space, are usually cheaper, and will give you a great workout without having to buy a lot of equipment. To start off with you should take a look at the P90X resistance band as they come in a pouch for you to take with when you travel. Exercise bands are the most cost effective way for you to get a great arm workout while working on a lean upper body.
